“FRANKLY, YOUNG ADULTS WHO STOP BUYING FAST FASHION COULD HAVE A MORE SUSTAINABLE LIFESTYLE.”
Nowadays, people live in an era of fast fashion. With the pressure to wear new outfits and keep up with ever-evolving trends has increased exponentially in recent years, for many people, it does not feel so good, and for the environment, it is harming the planet. The advent of what’s now known as “fast fashion”, those wildly cheap clothes produced on a hyper-accelerated trend cycle, is both cause and effect of these changes. All these situations can be based on the question: How could we incentivize young adults who are seeking to live a more sustainable lifestyle to stop buying fast fashion?
Contemporary youth as the most fashion-sensitive group, they are more receptive to fast fashion, and fast fashion has established a stable market among young people. In order to better understand the current situation of fast fashion on young people, Allie conducted her research on the shopping habits and awareness of young people. The research will mainly focus on three methodologies: surveys, interviews, and observation.
Basically on the primary research, Allie decided to create a second-hand app which might address the needs of my audiences. She decided to call this app “Little”. There is an old saying that “Many a little makes a numerous”. Since fast fashion causes a huge damage on the environment. She hoped people could use this app to reduce or recover some of the damages.
This app is divided into two main parts, planting and community. In the planting area, users will grow a real tree by using the virtual energy. When they complete some missions, like one day they didn’t purchase any clothes, they got some energy for their trees, and somewhere, somebody will plant the real tree for them according to how much they gain.
